A 16-week wedding menswear checklist

Wedding menswear planning

Agree on the clothing plan early

Four months is a useful planning window. Use these checkpoints to organize the decisions, then ask The Third Gentleman to confirm the measurement, ordering and delivery dates for your wedding. If your date is closer, contact TTG now rather than waiting for a checkpoint.

About 16 weeks before: list who needs clothing

Start with the invitation and any attire instructions from the couple. The stated dress code leads the clothing decision. The ceremony time, venue, weather and local setting can help you choose within that direction, but they should not replace it. If the wording is unclear, ask the couple or planner rather than guessing.

Write down everyone who needs clothing: the groom, wedding party, fathers or other participants. Add each person's role, location and availability. A group spread across several cities needs a different measurement and delivery plan from a group that can meet in one place.

Choose one coordinator. That person should keep the approved look, member list, contact details and open decisions in one place. They should also know who can approve changes when the groom is unavailable.

About 12 weeks before: confirm choices and ordering dates

Discuss the dress code, color direction and whether the group needs suits or tuxedos. Include shirts, ties, shoes, belts or braces, socks and any other accessories in the same conversation. Small items become large problems when nobody owns the decision.

Give TTG the wedding date, number of people, locations and what each person needs. Ask whether ready-to-wear, made-to-measure or a mix is viable for the date and current availability.

Before anyone pays or sends measurements, get the real plan in writing. It should identify the agreed measurement deadline, order date, estimated arrival path, payment terms, shipping plan and how alterations will be handled.

Follow the dates you actually agreed

Once TTG confirms the process, replace the general checkpoints in this article with the dates for your wedding. Track each person against the same short list: clothing approved, measurements completed as instructed, order confirmed, accessories assigned and delivery location checked.

If a measurement is missing or a specification changes, ask what that does to the plan before moving forward.

When someone joins late

A late addition may not match the original order exactly. Send TTG the person's location, sizes or available measurements, needed garments and the wedding date. Ask what can still be provided. Depending on current stock and timing, the practical answer may be ready-to-wear, a simplified coordinated look or a different option.

Tell the coordinator about any approved difference so the shirt, tie, shoes and other visible choices still follow the group plan.

When the clothing arrives: check the whole outfit

Each person should try on every wedding-day item together, not only the jacket and trousers. Confirm that the correct garments and accessories arrived. Walk, sit and move normally, then note anything that needs a professional alteration discussion. Contact TTG with clear questions and enough time to review the available options.

For remote members, decide who reports the result and where any follow-up work will happen. Keep the coordinator informed so a private fit issue does not become a group-wide surprise.

The final week: one complete try-on

Try on the complete outfit again after any agreed work is finished. Check that each person has the right shirt, tie, shoes, socks and accessories. Confirm who will transport the clothing and where it will be kept at the venue. Follow the care instructions supplied with the garment or given by the maker. Ask TTG before making a late clothing change.

If you are considering made-to-measure for one person, use the individual profile. If several people need coordinated clothing, send the wedding-party details through the group intake.

Prepare your made-to-measure profile Tell TTG about the wedding party

Submitting an intake or preparing a profile does not confirm an order, production slot or delivery date. TTG will confirm the plan for your event.
